Scary Snacks for Halloween

In keeping with the holiday spirit, I’d like to share some Halloween inspired food to inspire you beyond the usual carved pumpkins. Here’s a cute lil  vanilla flavored marshmallow “Boo cake” to kick it off!

One of my favorite writers, Dave Eggers started a shop in San Francisco called the Pirate Store, aka 826 Valencia. It stocks all kinds of piratical goods and is also home to a community of young aspiring writers and literary art lovers.

Here are a some cute, gory and realistic scary snacks from a website called Slices Of Life, gory enough to get your stomach churning.

Here’s a spooky little cocktail called “Claire Robinson’s Dark and Spooky”

Ingredients

  • Black decorating sugar, for the glass
  • Juice of 1 lime, plus 1 lime wedge
  • 1/4 cup dark rum
  • 1/4 cup ginger beer or all-natural ginger ale
  • 1 black gummy spider

Directions

Spread out the black sugar on a small plate. Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass; dip the glass in the black sugar, then fill with ice.

Combine the rum and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake well. Carefully strain into the glass, minding the sugar on the rim. Top the drink with ginger beer and add the gummy spider.

Here’s another cocktail you can concoct into a test tube. I’d go with blood orange juice. raspberry, mango juice and just mix some colors around. Don’t forget the vodka though. That’s the real poison! 🙂

Halloween chocs by the famous chocolatier Godiva.

Here’s some Pecan-Caramel Spiders , baked with tasty licorice legs and gooey caramel-pecan bodies.

And finally, we have the famed Martha Stewart! Here’s her collection for Grandinroad, a retailer catering upscale American households. You can find the full collection here.
